The CafeAlfie’s Café opened on the 14th February 2006. Formerly known as “Poet’s Corner” Café after the Cockermouth connections to William Wordsworth, Marty decided to rename the Café after her dog Alfie. Marty and her husband are keen walkers and when they first got Alfie from a rescue home they found that there were not that many dog friendly establishments in a lot of areas that they visited. This gave Marty the idea about creating a dog friendly café in Cockermouth. |

The situation of the café is ideal for a variety of visitors to Cockermouth. Being at the end of a quiet lane, cyclists can leave their bikes without worrying about their gear if they are doing the “Coast to Coast”. Walkers are also accommodated with room to leave rucsacs just inside the café door where wet clothing can also be hung up. The café welcomes anyone who wants to have a good cup of coffee and a tasty bite to eat. There is also very pleasant outdoor seating when the weather is fine. |
